The Hospital
Established in 1837, The MetroHealth Medical Center has grown into a nationally recognized
primary care and referral facility serving 150,000 patients annually. This 742-bed teaching
hospital is affiliated with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (CWRU) and the
Cleveland Clinic Foundation creating one of the largest and most comprehensive health care
provider systems in Northeast Ohio.

MetroHealth Medical Center provides routine care, rehabilitation
services and all levels of inpatient intensive care to a diverse patient population. The Medical
Center is a certified Level I Trauma Center with extensive emergency and trauma critical care, high
risk obstetrical care and ground emergency transport. Metro Life Flight, the second busiest
hospital-based air-medical transport system in the nation, is based at MetroHealth Medical Center.

In addition to anesthesiology, education and training is offered in
over 25 subspecialties. MetroHealth staff members hold joint faculty appointments at CWRU and boast
a 1:1.5 faculty to resident ratio.
